  1. Instructions to Register Shar(FREE)   SWR-4

  3. The Shareware Registration database contains descriptions of hundreds of
  4. shareware programs designed for a variety of platforms and purposes.
  5.  
  6. To register a program, you must first find its description in the
  7. Shareware Registration database.
  8.  
  9. To begin, select "Register Shareware" from the previous menu. Upon
  10. entering the registration program you will receive a list of regions for
  11. use by the Shareware Author that allow them to determine the appropriate
  12. shipping and handling fees.  Select the region that corresponds to your
  13. mailing address.

  15. The total number of files in the registration database will be displayed
  16. at the top of the next screen, followed by a list of search criteria.
  17. You may search for your program's description by its REGISTRATION ID,
  18. TITLE, FILE NAME, AUTHOR'S COMPUSERVE ID, and AUTHOR'S NAME.  You may
  19. also search for your description by its KEYWORDS (categories).  For
  20. example, to find the description of a Macintosh utility, you might use
  21. the keyword: utility.

  23. When Author's submit their descriptions to the Shareware Registration
  24. database, their descriptions receive a REGISTRATION ID. If you know the
  25. REGISTRATION ID of the program description in the database, you may
  26. enter it under the first option on the search criteria menu. You will
  27. then navigate directly to the program's description. This is the easiest
  28. and fastest method of registering a program.

  30. Select the search criteria that you want to use to narrow your search,
  31. then enter the text in the prompt field.  You will be returned to the
  32. search screen.  Sometimes after you enter search criteria, your search
  33. yields a large number of "matches" in the database.  The search menu
  34. offers you the ability to NARROW your results further, to DISPLAY the
  35. list of "matches," or to BEGIN a NEW SEARCH.

  37. Once you have narrowed the searcj to the number you want, DISPLAY
  38. SELECTED TITLES to receive a list of programs that meet the criteria in
  39. the database.  Select the program that you wish to register from the
  40. list to receive a DESCRIPTION and continue the registration process.

  42. Read the description carefully to verify that you wish to register the
  43. program. The description details the program, its capabilities, and the
  44. benefits of registration. You will also find details on the files size,
  45. where th find the file on CompuServe, and how to contact the Author.  Be
  46. sure to note the program's registration and shipping/handling
  47. (SHIP/HAND) fees. When you register any program, the registration fee is
  48. charged to your CompuServe account.

  50. Enter "Y" at the prompt to register; enter "N" at the prompt to ensure
  51. that you do not register the program, and to return to the previous
  52. menu.  When you enter "Y" to register, you will be prompted to enter
  53. your full name, company name (optional), your complete address, your
  54. phone number (optional), the total number of copies of the program, and
  55. the disk size that you wish to register.  When you finish entering this
  56. information, you can VIEW, CHANGE, SEND or CANCEL it.

  58. Select VIEW to confirm that the information you entered is correct.
  59. Select CHANGE to edit any of the information you entered. Select SEND to
  60. complete your registration, receive a detail of your total charges, and
  61. to send the information to the author. Select CANCEL to cancel
  62. registration of the program.

  65. a message to the Shareware Administrator by selecting the "Provide
  66. Feedback" option at the main SWR menu.
